2025 was a transformational year at the Hot Shops, rooted in a simple but powerful belief: creativity thrives when people feel welcomed, valued, and supported. This year, that belief took physical form with the completion of our long-awaited ADA elevator—a milestone that fundamentally changed how artists and visitors experience our building. Alongside this achievement, we installed a new ADA-compliant fire alarm notification system, increasing safety and accessibility throughout the Hot Shops. These improvements weren’t just upgrades—they were statements that our artists and community matter.
As Omaha’s only arts organization with a dedicated focus on the fiery arts—glass, metal, ceramics, and large-scale making—the Hot Shops plays a unique role in the region’s creative ecosystem. Education remained at the heart of our mission in 2025. We provided 1,020 educational programs to 8,414 creative learners, along with 31 low- and no-cost arts education programs serving 879 students, many from under-resourced schools and communities. From studio tours and hands-on workshops to mobile glassblowing demonstrations and deep partnerships with schools and youth organizations, learners of all ages discovered the power of creative expression. These experiences build confidence, encourage curiosity, and affirm that every idea has value.
Together, these successes reflect a year of building—not just infrastructure, but opportunity. In addition to serving students, the Hot Shops supports the professional growth of artists by offering access to specialized equipment, technical expertise, and collaborative learning rarely found elsewhere. With stronger facilities, expanded education, and a growing network of artists and partners, the Hot Shops continues to evolve as a place where creativity is accessible, community is strengthened, and everyone is invited to belong. We’re proud of what we accomplished in 2025 and excited for what’s ahead.
