This 6-week class is an intro to wheel thrown pottery for all skill levels. We explore clay’s main components, creating forms on the wheel, form/surface decoration, and firing. Skills taught within the workshops will encompass wedging, centering on the wheel, throwing, trimming, surface decoration techniques, glazing, and firing finished work. It is the goal for each student to take at least 10 pieces of finished work home.
All firings, glazes, and 20 lbs of clay are included in the class cost of $180. The class is 6 weeks long, meeting once a week. A beginning set of throwing tools are provided for the duration of the class. Overall you can expect to leave the class with about 10 finished pieces of pottery.
The studio space has been reconfigured to allow everyone 6 feet of space at all times. All studio equipment, surfaces, chairs, etc. are disinfected before and after use. Classes sizes are also limited to 4 people. Masks should be worn in the public areas but can be removed during class once participants are seated.
The building will still be closed to the general public. All public areas will be sanitized twice a day.
