Urban Sketchers with Jean Mason
Urban Sketchers is a global community of artists with chapters located around the world. Meeting on location, they sketch notable places within the city they are located. Jean Mason currently facilitates Urban Sketchers Omaha, who will be showing their work through August 20th as part of the Omatopia show at the Josyln Castle Carriage House. Visit the Urban Sketchers Omaha Facebook Group to meet up with local artists and sketch around Omaha.
Josephine Langbehn, From the Good it May Do
Josephine Langbehn’s solo exhibition From the Good it May Do opened at the Josyln Castle on July 16th to be shown through September 6th. Informed by her time researching the Lynhurst Archives, Josephine’s work examines the lasting impact of Sarah and George Joslyn’s individual acts of generosity on Omaha’s culture as a whole almost 100 years later. Joining her for an artist talk on August 20th is Monica Gomez, the Education and Engagement Manager at the Joslyn Castle & Gardens. The artist talk will be from 6-7PM in the Joslyn Castle Music Room, and is free to attend.
Jennifer Radil, Forces of Nature
LALA Gallery at Millwork Commons presents Jennifer Radil’s solo show Forces of Nature through September 2nd. As a mixed media artist, she uses old maps, paints, colored pencils, ink, leather and string. Her work serves to connect herself and her viewers with nature, celebrate the handmade process, and experience a sense of wholeness. Jennifer Radil will discuss her solo show with moderator Amelia Broussard on August 13 at the Dock at Millwork Commons from 10-11AM. Coffee and pastries will be provided by LALA.
Andre Watts at Papillion City Hall
Papillion native Andre Watts is currently showing work at Papillion City Hall. Works displayed are representative of his art career, from his college work to the present, both ceramics and painting. He works as an elementary art teacher in Papillion, giving back to the community in which he grew to love the arts.
