As the child of an artist and forever, “Mr. Fix It” aka retired hardware store owner, I can say with no doubt that, I have had a special insight into two very different worlds of creativity…Two points of emphasis growing up:
1) My dad has always been patient with me, “mistakes are ok, and now how do we fix it?”
2) My mom has not only celebrated my quirky individuality, but also encouraged me to be independent, self-sufficient and work hard for the things that I wanted and the goals that I wanted to achieve. In our home…nothing was impossible. Let's set our minds to it and do it!
My parents have always been a driving force/support in my desire for higher education and continued growth in the arts. Our bond and friendship is what makes our relationship so special. I have never had bigger cheerleaders. My mom and I have shared this special and unique love for art my entire life. Having a creative upbringing, provided me with many opportunities to take lessons, go to museums/galleries, travel, meet new people, and appreciate new places. When I am creating art, I am in a constant search for the best way I can interpret ideas I have about my current state of mind and how it relates to my past and present. I have not ever been able to pigeonhole myself to one specific medium. I have been a potter, sculptor and printmaker and each process becomes such a mesmerizing obsession of experimentation. For now, my love is painting, spending my time as an elementary art teacher and #1 being a mom, what a gift! My artworks have found homes across Nebraska and the Midwest, I treasure the relationships I have made with clients and students. These days my biggest adventure are my two beautiful girls, being a wife and taking care of our home and acreage. I also enjoy the time I spend dabbling in the world of reselling and collecting vintage clothing and knick knacks.
My newest abstract pieces are a reflection of all of this…paint big, paint fast and LET.IT.GO! I hope you enjoy my work and our studio as much as we have loved being a part of this eclectic building. It has truly been a labor of love and collaboration! If you are interested in private lessons, group classes or children’s classes, please reach out!
