Demonstrations with Agneta Gaines and Caroline Schmitz
Agneta was born in Sweden, raised in Stockholm and came to America when she was 20. She has spent most of her American life in Omaha and became an American citizen in 1993. She has been immersed in weaving since the 1980’s. She also knits and crochets and does needle felting. She loves to work with natural fibers and to be open to unusual materials and unexpected treatments – many with botanical themes.
Art Education has been Caroline Schmitz life’s profession, teaching pottery, applied design, painting and drawing. Working in fibers and fabric was inspired from her childhood. All of her elementary and high school clothes were made by Caroline and her mother. Weaving, macrame, coiled basketry, handmade books, fabric dyeing are processes she really enjoys.
