Hand-stitched Mixed Media Collage

This intuitive object-based technique will play together and build the narrative of the piece – one art piece with many layers. The class will contain a short demonstration and show and tell of 40+ years of collage and mixed media by Sara Wamsat. Then there will be plenty of time to create and finish your piece.

8×10 canvas will be supplied along with an arsenal for mixed media success (variety of fiber, fabrics, apers, textures, etc.)

Participants should bring:
Scissors
Xacto knife
Elmer’s glue or acrylic mat medium
Upholstery needle
Heavy duty thread, string or yarn,
Small paint brush and chip brush (for coating).
A variety of junk drawer finds
Nature finds
Reclaimed youth
Memorial findings
Recyclopathic ephemera
For photos, bring photocopies, not originals
Dress to make a mess, or bring an apron
