Printmaking: Moku Hanga (woodcut) Class (2 Sessions)

Join me, Amy Haney, for a two day workshop where we explore Ukiyo-e images and the moku hanga printing process. In this two day class at my studio, we will make a small edition of woodcut prints using water based paints to explore the eastern version of color woodcut printing. To kick off class, we will meet at The Joslyn Art Museum to see the Ukiyo-e print (The Floating World and Beyond) exhibition. There are spectacular pieces on display by a handful of famous Japanese printmakers. The unique style of ukiyo-e printmaking had a big influence on the Impressionists known as Japonism from the years 1854 to 1920s. The modern version ukiyo-e is now known as moku hanga and I felt inspired to revisit this process after viewing the prints at The Joslyn.
